48 Hours in Abu Dhabi
If you are following me on Instagram you may have noticed that I've been travelling for the past few weeks. The first stop of the journey was Abu Dhabi, a city I've been dying to visit for so long and it definitely didn't disappoint.
We stopped off in Abu Dhabi for 2 nights just to break up our journey to Sydney. Plus, I've always wanted to visit the UAE and this was the perfect opportunity.
Two days is definitely not enough, there was so much more I wanted to do but at least I have an excuse to come back again!
Here's all the details about where we stayed, where to eat and what we got up to:
Where to stay: Beach Rotana, Abu Dhabi
One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in, the room was so comfortable and very luxurious! Whenever I return to Abu Dhabi I will definitely be staying here. It literally has everything you need.
The breakfast is one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had. Myself and my sister were so excited to wake up and go down to breakfast on both mornings. I've never seen so much options for breakfast and the staff were so hands on.
Usually I'm not into going to the gym when I'm away but my sister, Jess encouraged me to go and in the end it was actually such a lovely start to the day plus I needed to work off all those pastries and waffles from breakfast.
If you're a foodie like myself you'll enjoy the 12 word class restaurants in the hotel which we ate in both nights (more details below).
Finally my favourite part of all was the beach and pools directly outside the hotel, one of the pools even has a bar in it, absolute paradise!
What to do:
Before arriving in Abu Dhabi I had a list of things I wanted to do but unfortunately time went by so quick so we had to narrow it down. There was two things I really wanted to do and this was visit the Mosque and spend the day lounging at Saadiyat Beach Club.
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
As you can see from the pictures the Mosque is absolutely stunning but the pictures really don't do it justice. It really is so impressive in person and such a great way to experience the middle eastern culture.
Another positive is that entry is free and they'll supply you with the Hijab and Abaya free of charge.
If you're looking for a relaxing, chilled day with a touch of luxury, this is the place for you. Myself and my sister came here on our last day in Abu Dhabi. It was the ideal spot to spend the day before our 14 hour flight to Sydney.
You have the option to stay by the pool or grab a lounger down by the beach, we did both. I'd highly recommend a day out here, the DJ was great, the atmosphere is incredible and there's lots of bars and restaurants to eat and drink in.
We went on a Monday which is ladies day and this cost AED 90 which is only about 20 euro. Although entry is quite reasonable, I did think the food and drink were expensive but I was expecting that.
Where to eat:
We were very lazy when it came to eating out but could you blame us when there was so many options in the hotel.
Trader Vic's
We came here on the first night straight after out flight. It's a Polynesian restaurant and bar which specialises in island cuisine and tropical drinks. The food was delicious and the cocktails were even better, you need to try their Pina coladas.
To eat: Get the Thai green curry!
The atmosphere is great, such a lively spot if you plan on staying out for the night!
Benihana
We had the best dinner experience here, not to mention some of the best sushi I've had in a long time and I've eaten a lot of sushi.
It's literally dinner with a show! The chefs cook right in front of you, it's the most entertaining meal I've ever been to. We didn't stop laughing throughout the whole meal.
So that's everything we did in a nutshell over our short time in Abu Dhabi.
There was so much more things I wanted to do but I suppose I'll have to leave that until my next visit.
To do:
- Emirates Palace
- Abu Dhabi desert safari
- Ferrari World Abu Dhabi
- Yas Waterworld
- Marina Mall
- Day trip to Dubai
Until next time!
