5 Autumn Jackets I'm Loving Right Now
There's something exciting about the wardrobe change from Summer to Autumn that I love so much. Whatever jacket you wear this season will be be the key component of your outfit, the 'piece de resistance' so make sure you choose something transitional, functional, and of course, stylish.
I love them all and I'm making my way through some of my favourite trends from blazers to teddy bear coats, so here are some of my must-haves this season.
1. The Blazer
Blazers, a chic trend I will always love. What's great about blazers is that they are the perfect transitional piece to every season. I've actually, included a blazer in my wardrobe throughout the entire year from linen blazers in the summer to heavier tartan blazers in the winter.
Another huge benefit with blazers is that they are probably the easiest jacket to style. I do find myself re-wearing the same blazer over and over again which can be a bit boring so adding a belt around your waist or even a brooch can make a big difference.
The best thing about Blazers is that they NEVER go out of fashion so don't feel guilty investing in one because you will get the wear out of it time and time again.
2. The Teddy Bear Jacket
Okay, I'm not going to lie when the teddy bear jackets first came out I tried to avoid them like the plague. It's not that I don't like them, it's just everyone seemed to be wearing them. Then the weather got colder and colder and I gave in. When I'm waiting for the tube at 6:30am every morning there is nothing I am more thankful for than my cosy teddy bear jacket. Honestly, I've fallen in love with this trend.
Unfortunately this jacket is a bit tricky to style, but on the plus side it will take you all the way from autumn to winter and you can always layer up underneath.

3. The Trench Coat
Functional no, transitional yes. This was the first piece I purchased at the start of the autumn season. I fell in love with the rusty shade the minute I saw it in Zara. It's definitely a lighter version to the classics you see everywhere but I'm loving how brands are becoming more experimental this season with various colours and shapes.
I lived in this light jacket at the beginning of autumn, it's the perfect in-between piece for the days where you're not too sure if you even need a jacket.
I find this statement piece quite difficult to layer underneath as you can see the bulk through the light material, I doubt I'll see it again until Spring time but looking forward to getting it back out of the wardrobe all the same.
I would love to invest in a heavier style maybe even a Burberry trench one day.

4. The Denim Jacket
Oh, the trusty denim jacket. A favourite of mine for years! If I had to choose one jacket out of all the above it would definitely be my denim jacket. I've had quite a few over the past few years.
I live for the moment every year when brands reinvent it, keeping the iconic trend alive.
There's not much to say here except that it's the coolest jacket out there, whether it's cropped, oversized, dazzled in rhinestones or simply fitted circa 1990's.
I wear mine throughout the year even when I know I won't be warm enough. They go with everything in my wardrobe and yes, I'm a proud fan of double denim.
I find the best places to make your investment (if you don't already have one) is in vintage or second hand markets. I find this is where you'll find a true authentic piece at the fraction of the price most brands are offering.
Or if you want to change up an old one you don't wear anymore, cut it up and wear it cropped.
I bought this one in Primark for about €14
5. The Double Breasted Jacket
A trend that's caught my eye a few times over the past few weeks. I don't have one (yet) but it's definitely on my wish list.
You could say the double breasted jacket is from the same family as the blazer (cousins probably) they're very similar, but what's the difference? Basically, a double breasted jacket has two front panels which overlap and feature two vertical rows of buttons.
There's so many styles, patterns and shapes out there on the high street that it can be a bit overwhelming when you go to purchase one so here's a round up of all my favourites.
