Lunch in the Sky - Hutong, The Shard

For the most special occasions, The Shard is where you need to be celebrating.

As part of my Birthday surprise I had lunch in Hutong, on the 33rd floor in the Shard.

The Shard is the tallest building in the UK, and probably the tallest building I've ever been in. It's so impressive even the bathrooms have the most incredible views.

It's definitely an experience, when you arrive you go through security, just like you would in the airport and then you get taken up to the 33rd floor which does take time, I think my ears popped at one stage.

I love going to places where you can get done up and this is the perfect place. I put on my new polka dot high hells and got all dolled up for an afternoon in the City.

It seemed as though we weren't the only people celebrating, it's definitely not the place you go every weekend, it really is the place to be for special occasions (unless you're filthy rich, of course).

Hutong specialise in the most devine Chinese cuisine, everything we had was delicious.

It's one of those meals you eat slowly because you just don't want it to end. My favourite was the crispy beef tenderloin, crispy batter on the outside and tender beef on the inside.

We got their 'Experience Lunch Menu', and it was definitely an experience. I love set menus because I find you always get a surprise and find something new that you like. It's a lot of food for two people which I was delighted about, I'm not a massive fan of places with tiny portions, I like to leave with a full belly.

Experience Lunch Menu

- Selection of 4 dumplings each - XO sauce crystal prawn dumpling, Pumpkin and prawn dumpling, Rosé Champagne shrimp dumpling and Seasonal mushroom and cabbage dumpling.

- Sautéed cuttlefish with gong vegetable, enoki mushroom and Sichuan chilli

- Wok-fried pak choi, garlic sauce

- Crispy beef tenderloin, bell peppers, dried garlic, black bean

- Chef’s pickled vegetable fried rice

- Mango pudding with fruit salsa

Expect top notch service. The staff are so polite and very attentive, one of the staff members even sang Happy Birthday to me, it was so cute.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're looking to treat yourself in London, especially if you like Chinese food because it's the best I've ever had.

Anyway, I hope this hasn't made you too hungry. Have a lovely weekend!

Besos,

Zoe Elizabeth
