My Birthday Breakfast - The Ivy, Chelsea Garden
So I may have milked my Birthday a little bit too much but sure you only turn 25 once.
Sunday morning I booked breakfast in The Ivy with my best friend, Saoirse. I've been dying to try The Ivy for so long now and recently they opened up a restaurant in Dublin which has also received a lot of great feedback so I had to try it.
It really is the perfect location for a special occasion. It's very sophisticated or in my words, fancy. Exactly what I expected for a restaurant in the heart of Kensington. The interior was fab, very pretty with a stunning garden out in the back. I fell in love with the rusty red leather sofas and bronze lighting, they seem to have it all right.
The place was jam packed with a mixture of families and friends enjoying breakfast, I got the vibe that it was for all ages, which is great because I know whenever anyone visits me they'll be happy coming here for a meal. I will definitely be returning for dinner soon or a few cocktails in the garden.
The breakfast definitely reached my expectations and the service was flawless.
Definitely try to book in advance if you want to get a reasonable hour. We could only get a booking for 10:30am which is a bit too early for me on a Sunday but we took it anyway. Plus, they refused to serve us prosecco at this time so we had to wait until 11am, I usually don't drink that early, I swear...
To start we got some pastries to share to have with a coffee (prosecco). I had the eggs royal which was so tasty. I always seem to go for eggs royal or eggs benedict when I'm in a restaurant and I've come to the conclusion that they can be really good or really bad and thankfully they were good. I was slightly jealous ofthe Irish breakfast (some may say 'English breakfast') but I will definitely be back again to try the rest of the menu, especially the pancakes.
Finally, was it as expensive? Honestly, I was expecting it to be a lot more for a place with such a high reputation and for being located in one of the poshest areas in London. I think it was about 20 pounds each for our breakfast which included prosecco which isn't bad especially for London. I was actually quite shocked at the prices of the mains which were mostly under 10 pounds.
I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know what you think!
