Galway: Food Guide
This year I decided to try and explore more of Ireland, there's so many places I want to visit. I have loads of places on the list but first I decided to go to Galway because I've only been once which was way back in the day to see NUI Galway.
We stayed for one night/2 full days but I wish we had more time because there's so many places left on my 'Galway food list' that we wanted to go to so I will definitely be back.
So many of you gave me great recommendations and the trip wouldn't have been as good without them so thank you so much!
1. BRUNCH - TRIBETON
1-3 Merchants Rd, Galway
As soon as we arrived in Galway I headed straight to Tribeton. I've seen so many lovely pictures of this place on Instagram so I was so eager to try it out. First of all you'll be blown away by the decor, it's so trendy and modern!
The food was so tasty, as you can see I had no patience to take a picture so here's half of what I got for brunch.
The menu is really reasonable and a lot cheaper than what i'm used to in Dublin.
To eat: Eggs Benedict
To drink: Freshly squeezed orange juice (look at the colour of it!)
2. LUNCH - THE DOUGH BROS
1, Cathedral Building, Middle St, Galway
Ok, this place got more recommendations than anywhere else. I'm a massive pizza fan so this was at the top of my list and I was hoping it would live up to our expectations and it did.
The menu is incredible, it took me forever to decide but honestly I don't think you can go wrong because everything looks so good. Plus, it's a perfect spot for everyone as they do vegan, vegetarian and gluten free pizzas.
I will 100% be going back here when we return to Galway, my aim is to try every pizza on the menu.
To eat: Ham and mushroom pizza (it has truffle oil on it) or the Posh Pepperoni!
3. AFTERNOON TEA - CUPÁN TAE
8 Quay Ln, Galway
The cutest cafe that almost feels like your in someones living room. The decor is vintage and I love that everything came in China teacups and saucers.
The tea was one of the best cups of tea I ever had, definitely try something different to what you're used to because their selection of teas is incredible!
To eat: Heated scone with cream and jam
To drink: Dreamy creamy Galway tea (raging I didn't buy some to take home)
4. COFFEE BREAK - COFFEEWERK + PRESS
4 Quay St, Galway
I am a huge coffee fan, I honestly can't remember the last time I went a day without coffee.
This was by far the best coffee I had all weekend and such a cool experience to sit in the store and have a nosey around at all the cool bits and bobs that were for sale. I loved that they had a record player playing old classics too.
To drink: Flat white
I stole the above image from google images - how cute is it from the outside?
You're probably wondering where we went for dinner? To be honest we ended up in a pub called 1520, listening to live music and having one too many drinks.
Here's some of the places left on my list that I would love to try next time we visit:
- Caprice; brunch/dinner
- Dela; brunch/dinner
- Tartar; wine bar and bits
- Bite club; Burgers and street-food (dying to try this in the summer)
- Handsome Burger - just deadly burgers apparently
- Papa Rich - Asian street food
- Umbrella; asian tapas
- O'Connell's Eyre Square; drinks
I hope you enjoyed this post, that's all for now!
Besos,
Zoë Elizabeth
