Dressing for yourself
You may have noticed from previous posts (crisp winter whites) that I am a huge fan of oversized shirts. There's something about wide cuffs and unbuttoned collars that makes me feel comfortable.
White shirts can look very masculine so I like to make it my own with neck scarves or excessive amounts of jewellery.
Something I get asked a lot is where do I get my style from? And to be honest, yes I do follow certain trends and I like to know what's in this season but I will always dress for myself. I would never wear something just because everyone else is wearing it or because it's 'in fashion'.
I'm obsessed with other peoples fashion sense and I definitely get a lot of my inspiration from other people, bloggers, friends, my mum, etc.
I think that your own style should be the core of your wardrobe and definitely have other people encourage and inspire you, but not take over you.
I always have to remember that just because something looks amazing on someone, it may not look the same on me. I think you know yourself when you try something on and you think 'I love this' that's when you know it's for you. I am definitely a massive believer of dressing for yourself, not boys not other girls, but yourself.
I came across this shirt on one of my shopping binges a few days ago. The back says 'We were born to be real not perfect'. I didn't know what it said until Evan read it (I have terrible eye sight) but it made me love it even more. Obviously this outfit isn't going to be everyones cup of tea but I love it and I feel so confident in it.
What i'm trying to say is dress for yourself, and honestly this is when you'll feel most comfortable and confident.
For me that's what fashion is - being confident in your own style, being real.
So that's my little rant over.. for the moment. I hope everyone has a great start to the week!
