The Art of Packing
Since i've moved back from Madrid, i've been over and back from the UK a lot. I wouldn't even call it long distance because it's shorter to go to Manchester than to my home in Tramore, so i'll say short distance. Me and my boyfriend, Evan have a short distance relationship (but not for much longer).
As you all know packing is such a pain. Over the past few months i've learnt a lot when it comes to packing lightly, and of course wisely. Not only that but working for Louis Vuitton has taught me a lot, as packing bags is where the brand originated from.
So for anyone going traveling in the new year or just a little weekend trip, here's my top tips for packing:
(1) PLAN - A few days before I begin packing, I always make a list in my notes on my phone. This way you'll never forget anything. The advantage of starting this a few days before is that you can add as you go along, cause there's going to be something that comes to your mind later on.
(2) SHOES - If it's only a short city break I only bring 2 pairs. One pair of casual boots/runners and one pair of dressy heels/boots.
(3) Accessories - I always bring way too much accessories but it's ok because they don't take up too much space. Keep them all in small draw string bags so you don't lose anything, and put them in your shoes to save space. Do this with underwear too!!
(4) Roll everything! Jeans, jumpers, dresses, it will save so much space.
(5) Wrinkly shirts - you can avoid this so easily. One thing i've learn from Louis Vuitton's Art of Packing is, fold shirts into each-other. I swear is works!

(6) Makeup - this can be a difficult one. Makeup can be so heavy so it's important to bring bits that you only need (plan in advance). Plus we all end up buying more in the duty free anyway.
(7) Electrical items - if you're bringing any, don't forget the chargers for all. Recently i've stopped bringing my laptop because it's just too awkward to carry and I never use it when i'm away anyway. iPads are definitely enough and take up half the space.
(8) Jackets - Last time I went away I made the stupid mistake of bringing two jackets. My fur coat took up half the suitcase alone. Bring a jacket that will go with all your outfits.
(9) Handbags - This is where it gets difficult. My handbags are my babies so I like to bring at least two with me (minimum). I usually travel with the bigger one and pack the smaller one. Always fill them especially the one in your suitcase, as this will protect it from being flattened.
(10) This is probably the most important point. I never leave without the following; passport, purse, keys, and phone. Obviously you wouldn't be going very far without them, but it can be so easy to get distracted and forget them.
Hope this was helpful to you! Enjoy your travels wherever you may be going.
