Seven Secrets With Shane

I've never been the best in the area of make-up but I've always been interested in learning and trying new things. I try to keep up with trends, like many of ye I spend a small fortune on the latest products.
Luckily a few months ago an angel was sent to me from the makeup heaven when I began working. His name is Shane and he has become one of my close friends. He is literally one of the most talented MUA's I've ever known! Recently I had the pleasure of being his model for one of his highly demanded workshops.
As I sat there being pampered, I tried to take in as much information as possible because he seriously knows his stuff. Did I mention he works for YSL? He's worked in Milan, powdered Eva Longoria's nose and of course did Blake Lively's lips (no biggie).
So as you can imagine he's seriously good at what he does, which led me to create this post: Seven Secrets with Shane.
(1) Exfoliate your lips - this is something we should all be doing at least once a week apparently! Is it me or is this the first time you're hearing this too? Basically I didn't think this would make any difference but O.M.G my lips were so soft. Shane used YSL Top Secret Exfoliator, he applied it with an ear bud and then removed with another. He finished by applying Vaseline and then removing it the same way. Trust me your lips will feel like butter after.

(2) Don't use makeup wipes - ever. Just don't.
(3) Must have product: Benefit Hoola Bronzer - when asked by the class his 'must have item' this was his answer and I definitely have to agree with this. Not only for bronzing but for a fab autumn colour in the crease of your eye (double use).

(4) Don't put highlighter down the full arch of your nose - it will just make your nose look long, basically just on the button of your nose and on the very top.
(5) Never close your eyes when applying eyelashes - just look down or you'll end up glueing your eyes together....I was wondering why this kept happening to me.
(6) Use setting spray on your brush before applying pigmented eyeshadows - this will change your life.

(7) Bake - this has nothing to do with cooking; this allows your powder contour to "bake" on your face for a few minutes before brushing it off - do something else like eyes or eyebrows while waiting.

There was A LOT more technical makeup talk that went on in the workshop but I felt I should stick to the basics for the moment before throwing myself in the deep end. This may be old news to a lot of ye but hopefully it can be helpful to others.
Please feel free to share some of your own beauty secrets, they're greatly appreciated!
