Life After College: The Next Chapter
Although I want my blog to be fashion/style based I also want to make it personal. So that's why I'd like to give you an insight into my life. To anyone who doesn't know me, here's how my life has turned out after graduating.
You may have guessed from my blog that my name is Zoë. I'm 23 and I'm from a small town called Tramore in Ireland. I've spent my last 2 years living in Madrid, completing my double degree (Global Business and Español) and I've just moved up to Dublin to work.
After graduating in Madrid I literally had no idea what my next move was going to be. I had applied to hundredsss of jobs, mainly in London and Dublin and I barely got any responses. To be honest I never thought finding a job would be so difficult but I learnt it's important to keep trying because "eventually it will all fall into place" (quote stolen from my Mum) and it did.
Finding what I wanted to do was easy. All I've ever wanted to do is work in fashion but more specific luxury fashion. I knew from the beginning that I would have to begin at the bottom to get anywhere in the fashion industry and this was something I was completely determined to do.
So fast forward to August (2 months after graduation) where a job came up at Louis Vuitton in Dublin, Brown Thomas as a Client Advisor. Louis Vuitton is hands down my favourite luxury brand since forever!! So as you can imagine the prospect of even being considered to work for the leading luxury brand in the world made me sooo excited but nervous because I really, really wanted it.
The process went by in a flash, after various interviews I got a call offering me a position! I'm not going to lie it was probably one of the bests moments of my life. I was jumping around the kitchen like a child on Christmas (minus the champagne).
So here I am, 3 months later and I'm really enjoying living in Dublin and I love my job. I admire the brand so much and I'm learning more and more everyday.
At the moment I'm not even close to where I want to be. I have a long career path ahead of me but I completely accept the challenge and I'm looking forward to every step of it.
My advice to anyone looking for a job after college is have patience. Seriously, it doesn't happen over night but eventually you will get where you want to be if you have the determination.
So what's next? A lot of hard work and of course to enjoy the experience and have fun along the way.
So there you have it - a small run down of whats been going on since graduating. It's been exciting yet exhausting but it's still only the beginning.
Anyway I hope I haven't bored anyone too much, that's all for now. If anyone has any questions please just ask me.
Besos,
Zoë Elizabeth
